May’s Creek Trail

I’d say trail is a loose term when it comes to May’s Creek. This trail crosses over a logging road several times but don’t let that steer you away from experiencing this hidden gem!

The drive in is beautiful! On a clear sunny day you’ll see a landscape full of mountains; The Cascades! You start out at a trail head at the dead end of a neighborhood.

Most of the trail is a very gradual uphill and if you keep a laid back pace you’ll reach the first forest road crossing in no time!

Crossing the logging road. Clearings offer great viewpoints!

Continue on and you’ll reach the next forest road, across the road you’ll see two signs for vistas, right and left. We went left and ended up to the right so I don’t know how much it actually matters which you take. But if you’re following g the map on AllTrails – head towards Sun Valley Vista.

We walked through a beautiful archway of trees covered in moss, crossed over a lazy waterfall and weaved our way upwards toward the vista point.

Just when we thought there wouldn’t actually be a viewpoint, we could see the blue skies peeking though the trees. The trail weaves you back and forth through the trees until it finally opens up to THIS.

We spent about an hour taking in the view, soaking up the sunshine and taking pictures. And we could have EASILY spent the rest of the afternoon in that exact spot.

The trail, on the way back down, is a piece of cake! Talking, sharing pictures and walking along – we made it back down in a little less than 30 minutes.

If you’re up for burgers and shakes (in my opinion, the best post hike snack) be sure to hit up Alpen Drive-In, just a quick 10-15 minute drive South!
